Nightline network extends to dozen depots

Ireland-based delivery firm Nightline has opened a facility at Waterford which is three times the size of its previous premises in the city. The company added that its network strength now extends to a dozen depots.

Nightline Group CEO John Tuohy has said that increasing parcel traffic generated by retailers in the UK and Ireland’s South East had been instrumental in the decision to move to the 30,000 square foot site.

He added that Nightline was also planning additional expansion in its network in line with its greater amount of business.

“We believe that our new depot in Waterford marks a clear statement of intent to maintain our high standards of performance for the benefit of consumers and business customers in the region,” said Tuohy.

“The e-commerce boom has not just been of benefit to those UK brands shipping to shoppers in the Republic but home-based retailers wanting to meet the appetite of Irish people shopping online.

“It is worth remembering that the growth seen in Waterford is not confined to one part of the country or, indeed, one part of the year but has been tracked across the entire firm’s operations.

“To ensure that we can support our clients in the manner which they have come to expect, it is necessary to make those improvements we consider essential to keep our infrastructure able to deliver an efficient and effective service.”

Tuohy said that 35 people would be employed at the new Waterford depot, taking the firm’s total staff numbers to 800.

As previously reported by Post&Parcel , Nightline announced earlier this month that it had seen a 30% increase in annual parcel volumes.

In addition to Waterford, the company also operates four depots in Dublin and others in Belfast, Sligo, Cork, Limerick, Galway, Kerry and Athone.
